Involved in education for decades, as a parent, teacher, administrator, literacy coach, IBMYP Coordinator, workshop leader, college applications counselor, mentor, sports coach, and more! I am also a proud alumnus of The University of Hawai'i at Manoa, College of Education. In the spring of 1983, I student taught at Kailua High School, where I attended rivalry Kalaheo High School, class of 1977! I decided I needed to, as I told my family, "to see the world" and moved to Houston, Texas where I attended graduate school at the University of Houston at the College of Education. With my husband, David, and his job we have been lucky enough to travel to many parts of the world! The educational experiences and opportunities are unique, diverse and my goal is to share what I have learned with fellow educators, moms, dads, grandparents, teens, young adults, and community members. P.R.I.A.'s mission is to share what we have learned with others to show that unique educational experiences are okay! As I explain when people ask, "What's P.R.I.A.?", I reply, "P.R.I.A. is more than a school, it's the future". P.R.I.A. was created and founded in 2005 by two educators who are also moms. Mary Ellen and LeeAnne began team teaching together at Lanier Middle School in Houston, Texas in 1992. Initially, P.R.I.A.'s educational focus was centered on the middle school student. P.R.I.A. has evolved into a multifaceted nationally known educational group that successfully assists and supports students and their families.
